Explanation:
Will is on a path of self-discovery; this journey is not new, but more and more people are now deciding that they know better. Unfortunately all too often the people that yell the loudest about knowing what’s best for someone on this path are usually the least qualified. Will must now stand up to these self-appointed experts and succeed in this self-discovery with less support that was previously known.
Believe in yourself!!! In the end you have no other choice.
Do not be ashamed !!! Why should you? For BEING you? You are precious and there is only one of you! Shine until it blinds them! Shine with goodness. BE and be seen!
There are a lot of bullies in this world; there are a lot of people who think that they have the right to tell you who you are. There are people who want to punish you for who you are because you scare them…for not being the “same” as everybody else. SAME is just another four letter word!!! There are a lot of people who will reject you outright or in secret if you will not be squeezed into a pre-defined mold. No one can tell you who you are; you do the telling. Don’t hurt or use others. Be kind whenever you can be. Respect and cherish what is beautiful. Innocence is beautiful. Honesty is beautiful. Love and understanding are beautiful!!
Just because Will lacks support and understanding from the people who are most responsible for providing them does not mean that Will cannot triumph in self-determination. There are precious few things that we have control over and our will is one of those things.
Be who you are. If people judge or malign you for it then be grateful that they show you their true self. Judgement and malice are ugly. Find people who will cherish you; they ARE out there. Sometimes they may be the last person that you would expect! No one has the right to judge you for being who you are as long as you are not mean, manipulative or selfish.
Will shall triumph!!! Will shall become who Will is. Try to stand in the way of that??? You will just make Will stronger. No more apologies!
The Figure:
The figure stands 50 inches tall and is made entirely out of Bondo. Each extremity, hands, torso and face/head and feet were created separately then combined together. The staff and “stand” are constructed in such a way that allows the figure to stand unassisted and without a “platform”. The face was created so as to make gender uncertain. The clothes and accessories were decided upon with the same intention. Gender is meant to be uncertain because it is not the focus of the sculpture. The name “Will” is not gender specific, but the strength of WILL is the important thing! Will the person must decide identity by maintaining willpower. The focus is on the assertion of will in the face of opposition, misunderstanding and lack of acceptance. There is no admonition of the opposition, there is good hearted fortitude: inner conflict does not mean self-loathing. The Triumph of Will is certain.
