The people behind Doctor Who decided to switch things up in 2010 when they introduced their new Dalek paradigm. People were calling them the VW Daleks and the Macintosh Daleks because now they came in colors. So of course when I saw that I wanted nothing to do with it. But after a year of deliberation with my inner artist I decided that I needed to make one just to prove to myself that I still “had it.” So I got the same super terrific and modified plans to build the new one from the reliable geniuses at Project Dalek. I decided on blue and then wasn’t able to find enough of the right color so decided on red which is a decision that I actually now regret. Honestly, compared to the gold Dalek all the expenses were more or less the same (time, money, mental and creative energy). The gold Dalek was a labor of love, the red Dalek was a labor of “Oh yes, I still can.” And I did, but the problem is…well okay, now what? So now I have a 2008 Dalek standing guard in the living room and a 2010 red one doing the same in the dining room.
